TRANSPORTATION ENGINEERING ASSOCIATE

The ideal candidate will have had some general transportation planning and/or traffic engineering experience, particularly relating to traffic engineering (i.e., traffic engineering studies, road safety audits, and traffic modeling)

As a part of our team, you will be involved in providing professional services to our clients in the private and public sectors and will be expected to: (1) conduct assignments of a quantitative and qualitative nature; (2) learn to use, understand, and appropriately apply new technical tools; (3) assist preparing proposals; (4) conduct environmental scans; and (5) be involved in report writing.

Qualifications

  •  Bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in transportation.
  • Registration (or be eligible for registration) with Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access), GIS software (e.g., GeoMedia, ESRI or others), design software (CAD), traffic modeling software (e.g., PTV or Synchro), and statistics software such as SAS or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of transportation related experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills including report writing.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to synthesize large amounts of data and information.
  • Computer programming skills will be considered an asset.

ROAD DESIGN TECHNOLOGIST

Working with other members of the team, you’ll prepare preliminary and detailed plans and schematic drawings following the required CAD standards from associated clients on a variety of transportation projects. You must be able to take initiative, be a self-starter, and be willing to work with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university, Technologist from accredited college, or Engineering Design & Drafting diploma program.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Project experience using AUTOCAD for drafting and designing of civil engineering projects.
  • Experience in roadway projects.
  • Experience in active transportation projects.
  • Understanding of field survey and data gathering.
  • Familiarity with TAC Geometric Design Guide for Canadian Roads.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
